Santa's Helpers wrapping up the festivities in Kimball

The Santa’s Helpers will be wrapping up their holiday activities this weekend in Kimball at the Eagles Club Aerie #3389 on Sunday, Dec. 18.

On Sunday, Dec. 18 the fun begins at 3:30 p.m. with a chili cook-off, judges will be anonymous and bowls will sell for $3. Two categories are available, traditional red chili and other, such as green chili, cowboy chili or white chicken chili. Chili cooks are encouraged to use their imagination and bring their best!

What is better to chase chili than a tasty variety of holiday cookies? The Santa’s Helpers cookie exchange is a great way to share a family favorite and sample others.

“This is something fun to do, especially for those who like to bake,” organizer Angie Haun said. “You bring a dozen or two and take home a variety to enjoy.”

Haun added that any cookies shared must be accompanied by the recipe used and the name of the baker, for allergy concerns.

The wreath auction will be held at the Eagles club that day as well, and Haun said that eight wreaths are still available, free of charge.

“We just wanted to do something that did not cost a lot to enter,” she said.

Wreaths can be picked up at Croell Redi-mix or by calling Haun at 308-235-2667. Decorated wreaths will be auctioned with the proceeds being used for next year’s Santa’s Helpers activities.

Residents of Kimball County who wish to enter the residential lighting contest will need to do so by Dec. 18 as well. Registration can be done by calling Rob Snyder at 307-640-5612 with the address.

The contestants’ outdoor lighting will be judged by three judges based on basic curb appeal. Residents do not need to be present during judging, which will be done by three judges on Dec. 21 and Dec. 22.

During the final festivities, Kim Baliman said she will present a very special award to one Kimball resident.

Kimball’s Santa’s Helpers invite everyone to attend and enjoy the 2016 holiday season finale.
