Jerry L. Andersen

Jerry L. Andersen, 85, of Kimball, Nebraska passed away at his home on Wednesday, September 28, 2016. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Kimball with Pastor Carla Gunn officiating. Memorials have been established to Trinity United Methodist Church and Kimball High School Athletic Fund. The services for Jerry have been entrusted to the Cantrell Funeral Home.

Jerry Lorren Andersen was born in Grand Island, Nebraska on July 27, 1931, the son of August and Minnie (Hanson) Andersen. He graduated from Grand Island Senior High School in 1949, then attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Jerry married the love of his life, Anne Hammons, in Meridian, Mississippi on June 16, 1956. They moved to Chicago and lived in several other locations while Jerry worked for Fireman's Fund Insurance. Their next and best move was to Kimball in 1967 to work at First State Bank. Later, he and his twin brother Larry purchased the Chevrolet Dealership. After selling the dealership, he was employed at American National Bank as Senior Vice President until his retirement in 2001. Jerry enjoyed golfing, traveling, bowling, pool and cards. He was an avid sports fan, and was the voice of the Kimball Longhorns for many years. He served as president of the Kimball Concert Association, was a member of the Kimball Rotary, served on the Kimball School Board and was also a board member for GRI.

Survivors include his wife Anne of Kimball, NE; daughters Shelby (Cal) Warrington of Anthem, AZ .; Julie Andersen of Durango, CO; sons Pete (Vicki) Andersen of Spokane, WA .; and Benjamin Andersen of Sterling, CO; grandchildren Cassie Wistrom, Jordan (Hannah) Andersen, Sheldon and Steven Wyman, Anastasia and Alex Andersen; nieces Nancy (Clyde) Volz and family, Lynn (Neil) Smith and family, and nephew Tom (Nancy) Andersen and family. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Vivian, and brothers Bobby and Larry.
