Hugh D. Uglow

Hugh D. Uglow, 80, of Kimball, died at Kimball Health Services on Wednesday, September 28, 2016.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at the Calvary United Methodist Church in Bushnell with Pastor Carla Gunn officiating. Burial will be held in the Kimball Cemetery. Memorials have been established to either the Calvary United Methodist Church or the Bushnell Volunteer Fire Department. The services for Hugh have been entrusted to the Cantrell Funeral Home.

Hugh Dennis Uglow was born in Scottsbluff, Nebraska on December 5, 1935, the son of Leonard and Reva (Shaw) Uglow. He was raised and attended school in the Scottsbluff Valley area. He lived in California for a short time and then moved back to Minatare and worked for his uncle on their ranch in Wyoming. Hugh moved to Kimball in 1954. He was married to Gwen Montgomery at Calvary united Methodist Church in Bushnell, Nebraska on February 5, 1956. They lived in Bushnell 42 years. Hugh owned his own propane truck and delivered for Kimball County Co-op. In the early 1970's he went to work for Kimball County and retired as the Road Superintendent after 33 years of service. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening. Hugh enjoyed tinkering with and fixing things. He was active in the Boy Scouts, the Bushnell Fire Department, the Lions and Eagles Club and was a member of Club 25. He loved spending time with his family and was an avid supporter of his children and grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife Gwen Uglow of Kimball, NE; children Dennis (Julia) Uglow of Lake Havasu City, AZ., Roger (Linda) Uglow of Kimball, NE., and Yulonda (Philip) Braband of Greeley, CO; sister Dolores Leinweber of Douglas, WY; 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Vernon and Doug; sisters Vivian Kirchnavy, Anne Griner, and Louise Anderson.
