Lady Coyotes run away with a winning week

The Lady Coyotes are now 13-1 for the season following their latest winning streak beginning on Saturday, Sept. 17 against Creek Valley and concluding at the Potter-Dix invite against Morrill, Crawford and Pine Bluffs on Saturday, Sept. 24.

The intense athleticism of the Lady Coyotes was on display when they battled the Creek Valley Storm. Lanie Thies kept her teammates set up with a total of 29 assists to her name. Dawson Sharman dominated at the net with 14 kills to her credit, followed by Trinity Langley with nine, Audrey Juelfs with seven, Alexus Rozelle with six and Lanie Thies with one.

Ace service was a bit hard to earn for the Potter-Dix girls, with just one each from Payge Hoffman and Langley.

The Storm kept defense hopping, but that is just what they did, holding their opponents to limited scoring.

Langley credited five solo blocks, Rozelle, two, and one each from Juelfs and Sharman. Hoffman and Rozelle teamed up for three block assists each as well.

For the balls that got past the high-jumping Coyotes, nearly all the ladies earned double digit digs. Juelfs led, with 17, followed by Sharman with 15, 14 each for Langley and Hoffman, Rozelle with 13 and Thies with six.

At the Paxton triangular on Tuesday, Sept. 20, the Coyotes made quick work of their hosts in two sets, and then took Wallace in another two sets.

Scoring was led by Langley with four aces, while Sharman and Rozelle added two each and Juelfs contributed one.

Thies again kept the offense set up, with 20 assists in two sets against Paxton. Juelfs led the offense with eight kills, followed by Rozelle with seven, six from Sharman, Langley added two and Hoffman, one.

Langley led defensively as well with three solo blocks, two assists and was credited with eight saves. Juelfs had one solo and eight digs, while Hoffman and Sharman each contributed one assist and six saves.

Rozelle racked up ten digs and Thies contributed seven.

The Wallace Lady Wildcats couldn't fight off the Coyotes following their win against Paxton, and in two short sets, the Potter-Dix girls finished the invite on a high note.

The Lady Coyotes served up four aces, Hoffman with two and one each for Langley and Sharman.

Thies set them up with 22 assists that led to nine kills from Langley, seven from Juelfs, six from Rozelle and five from Sharman.

Though the Wallace ladies attempted attacks of their own, the Lady Coyotes shut them down. Langley was credited with five solo blocks and two saves.

Hoffman contributed one solo block and ten digs, followed by Rozelle with a block assist and eight digs and Thies with one block assist and six digs.

Sharman added seven saves and Juelfs contributed five, shutting the Wallace offense down.

Traveling to Minatare for a Friday game didn't slow the Coyote roll, as the Potter-Dixladies squashed their hosts in three sets.

On their way to another win, aces were high with 12 from Sharman and seven from Hoffman. Thies kept the offense prepared with 20 assists and the Lady Coyotes affected 27 attacks.

Langley led with nine kills, while Sharman and Juelfs each contributed seven and Hoffman and Thies two.

Defensively, Langley had the only solo block while Thies led with 13 saves, followed by Sharman with nine, Juelfs with eight, Langley with four and Hoffman with one.

Sophomore Erica Bogert served up an ace during the battle against the Lady Indians and contributed five digs. Brooke Moench added four saves, and Ginny Herboldsheimer three.

The Coyotes dominated in their home den against three opponents throughout their invite the following day, Saturday, Sept. 24.

Morrill, the first challenger of the day, fell in two sets.

Thies led in points with three aces, 22 assists, one kill and three saves. Langley racked up eight kills, two aces, three solo blocks, one block assist and five digs.

Rozelle was credited with six kills and 11 digs while Sharman added eight digs, six kills, one solo block and one block assist.

Hoffman added two aces and three saves and teammate Herboldsheimer added two saves.

Following the quick win against Morrill, the Coyotes trounced the Crawford Lady Rams.

Juelfs led the win with four kills, two aces, one solo block and 13 saves. Thies added to the efforts with 20 assists, two aces and six digs.

Langley was credited with nine kills, two solo blocks and four saves while Sharman added five kills and five saves.

Rozelle racked up six successful attacks, two solo blocks and three digs and Hoffman added one ace and three saves. Herboldsheimer and Bogert each added one save.

To finish out their busy, but wildly successful week, the Lady Coyotes polished off the Pine Bluffs Hornets in two sets.

Thies, who racked up seven saves, kept the offense working with 23 assists. Juelfs led the attack with 11 kills and 16 digs and Sharman followed with eight kills and 13 saves.

Hoffman served up the only two aces for the game along with one kill, two block assists and eight digs while Rozelle added seven kills, a solo block, two block assists and nine digs.

Langley added two solo blocks, two kills and seven saves. Herboldsheimer and Bogert each added one save.

Potter-Dix hosted another triangular on Tuesday, Sept. 27, with South Platte, currently 6-5 and Bayard, 5-8, invited. The Lady Coyotes will then host South Platte on Sept. 30.
