Nationally honored runner to compete in Farmer's Day Fun Run

Andrew Knutsen will be out to set a new record as he runs in the Farmer’s Day Fun Run this Saturday.  Andy, with Kimball ties, including his uncle Jerry, and his father Steve, who will also be back in town to help celebrate his Class of 1966 Kimball High reunion, is a runner of National honors.

Andy has been competing in the Xterra Tri-Athlon events where each contestant swims .93 miles, bikes 17.7 miles, and runs 6.2 miles.  In a recent Pan American Championship event in Ogden, Utah, he place 29th overall including the Pro contestants, and was 2nd in his age group of 35-39.  His times in each event were 24:51 swimming, 1:37.50 in the bike ride, and 45:05 in the 6.2 mile run.  His overall time was 2 hours, 49 minutes and 5 seconds!  I think he can handle the 5 mile run at Saturday’s Farmer’s Day race.  By the way, the Denver, Colorado area athlete and 35 year old father of two – is an electronics engineer for Lockheed Martin has qualified for the World Championships to be held in Maui next month!  What an honor for Kimball to have Andy come to our town and run in our race.  Let’s be sure and give him a BIG Kimball welcome as he starts and finishes.  Race time Saturday is 8 a.m.
