Kimball hosts SPVA junior high track

Kimball hosted the 2016 SPVA Junior High Track and Field meet this past week with Chase County winning all four divisions consisting of girls 7-8 and boy’s 7-8 divisions. Kimball’s best finish in the seven-school competition came in the eighth grade girl’s division where they finished fourth with 41 points. Kimball was fifth in the seventh grade girls class with 39.5 points, sixth in the seventh grade boys with 35 points, and sixth in the eighth grade boys with 38.5 points.

Jenna Greenwood was a standout for Kimball in the eighth grade girls division winning the triple jump at 29’7.25”, running second in the 100 meter dash in 14.51, taking fourth in the long jump at 13’5.5”. Kimball scored well in the shotput with three places. Sierra Rutledge was third at 32’2.5”, Bailie Brower fifth at 31’5”, and Carli Wurdeman sixth at 31’3.25”. Wurdeman also won the discus with a throw of 88’3”.

In the seventh grade girl’s division the 4 x 100 relay team of Jaydin Paxton, Megan Spicer, Raven Johnson, and Emma Martin took first place with their time of 1:00.82. A good day for Spicer as she was third in the long jump at 13’7.75”, second in the triple jump at 27’00.5”, and fourth in the 100 meter dash in 15.20.

Jaydin Paxton was fifth in the triple jump at 24’11”. Emma Martin was third in the discus with a throw of 70’1” and fifth in the shotput at 26’2.5”. Raven Johnson was fifth in the 200 meter dash in 32.72 and sixth in the pole vault at 5’6”.

In the seventh grade boy’s division, Ethan Ratzlaff won the high jump at 4’7” and was second in the triple jump at 32’2.5”. Javon Coyle was fourth in the 100 meter dash in 13.90. Cole Henton was third in the pole vault at 6’6”. Christian Allen-VanPelt was fourth in the high jump at 4’2” and fifth in the long jump at 14’4” and Kyle Evans was sixth in the shot put at 25’7”.

Jacob Withrow picked up a pair of third places for the eighth grade boys taking third in the high jump at 5’0” and third in the long jump at 16’8.5” and tied for sixth in the 100 meter dash in 13.50.

He also teamed up with Todd Hunsaker, Brendan Walker, and Brayden Tyan to run third in the 4 x 100 relay with a time of 53.15. Tyan was third in the triple jump at 32’8” and sixth in the long jump at 15’10” along with a fourth in the 100 meters with his time of 13.3. Hunsaker was sixth in the triple jump at 31’7”, fifth in the 100 meter hurdles in 19.01 and fifth in the 195 meter hurdles in 31.60. Brendan Walker was fifth in the shotput at 36’05, Samuel Cajero was sixth in the 1600 meter run in 6:01.10, and the 4 x 400 relay team of Cajero, Austin Lulf, Alex Flores, and Brendan Walker ran sixth in 4:47.60.
