Kimball junior high boys win Potter-Dix track invite

The Kimball Junior High boys won six events and piled up 180 points in winning the Potter-Dix Junior High Track Invite held at the Kimball site this past week. Pine Bluffs was runnerup with 115 points, Banner County had 90, Leyton 76, Potter-Dix 52, Minatare 22.

Leyton won the girl's division with 179 points followed by Pine Bluffs with 137, Kimball 111, Minatare 66, Potter-Dix 57 and Banner County 42.

Lots of highlights for the Kimball boys including taking the top three places in the pole vault with Bradley Lee winning at 6'6", Scott Hunsaker second at 6'6" and Cole Henton third at 6'0".

Kimball had three places in the triple jump with Brayden Tyan winning at 34'6", Jacob Withrow third at 33'11"and Ethan Ratzlaff fourth at 32'2". Withrow won the long jump at 16'2.75" and Zavyer White was fifth at 14'2.5". Ratzlaff was third in the high jump at 4'8"

The Shorthorns also took three places in the discus with Brendan Walker winning the event with a throw of 109'10", Ethan Greenwood third at 97'0", and Beau Hanks fifth at 87'5". Walker was also second in the shotput at 36'0".

On the track, Tyan ran second in the 100 in 13.31 and Javon Coyle was fifth in 13.80. Scott Hunsaker was third in the 200 in 30.44. Ratzlaff was fifth in the 400 in 1:07.33, and Scott Hunsaker sixth in 1:07.41. Lee ran sixth in the 800 in 3:02.46. Kimball had three places in the 1600 with Samuel Cajero fourth in 6:17.84,

Beau Hanks fifth at 6:21.63, and Austin Lulf sixth in 6:27.17.

Todd Hunsaker ran second in both the 100 hurdles in 20.09 and the 200 hurdles in 32.81. Stephen Bateman ran third in the 200 hurdles in 34.39 and Lee was fourth in the 100 hurdles in 26.39.

Kimball won the 4 x 100 relay in 54.15 and won the 4 x 400 relay in 4:41.09. The weightman's relay team finished third in 1:11.19.

Three wins on the day for the Kimball girls with Jenna Greenwood taking the long jump with a leap of 13'6.5" and finishing second in the triple jump at 29'9.5". Megan Spicer was third in the triple jump at 28'05". Kimball placed three in the pole vault with Raven Johnson and Melai Casimiro tying for second at 5'0" and Maddie Cook fifth at 4'6".

Sierra Rutledge won the shotput at 26'4.5" with Bailie Brower third at 25'5". Carli Wurdeman won the discus at 78'4.5" and Brower was fifth at 63'6.5".

On the track, Greenwood ran fourth in the 100 in 14.73 and Johnson was sixth in 15.27. Rutledge ran fourth in the 200 in 33.48 and Johnson fifth in 33.76. Kimball's 4 x 100 relay ran third in 1:01.84 and the 4 x 400 relay team ran third in 5:32.14. The weightman's relay was second in 1:07.

The Kimball Junior High tracksters will be right back in action on the home track today (Thursday) at their own Kimball Invitational Meet with a set start time of 9 a.m. and a promise of good weather from the weatherman. Keep your fingers crossed!
