Junior High track opens at Bayard Invite

The Kimball Junior High Track Season got underway with the Shorthorns competing at the Bayard Invite this past week. The Kimball boys finished seventh in the 15 team field, scoring 28 points while the girls wound up 12th with 13 points.

Team standings for the girls saw Sidney finish on top with 132 points, followed in order by Bayard 68, Hemingford 55, Gordon-Rushville 38, Mitchell 37, Creek Valley 34, Morrill 28, Crawford 21, St. Agnes 20, Sioux County 18, Lingle-Ft. Laramie 14, Kimball 13, Southeast 9, Bridgeport 9.

Mitchell won the boy’s division with 121.5 points followed by Sidney 92, Hemingford 42, Gordon-Rushville 39, St. Agnes 33, Morrill 30.5, Kimball 28, Bayard 23.5, Bridgeport 21.5, Southeast 17, Creek Valley 15, Sioux County 14, Crawford 10, Lingle-Ft. Laramie 6, Hay Springs 3.

Jenna Greenwood finished fifth in both the long jump at 13’5.5” and the triple jump at 29’8”. Bailie Brower was fourth in the shot put at 25’10” and Sierra Rutledge was 6th at 25’5”. Carlie Wurdeman was fourth in the discus with a throw of 79’0”.

For the Kimball boys Todd Hunsaker ran third in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 20.20. Jacob Withrow was third in the long jump at 16’ 8” and fifth in the triple jump at 32 ‘. Brayden Tyan took third in the triple jump at 33’ 1/2”. Brennan Walker was fourth in the shot put at 36’0”. The 4 x 100 relay team made up of Brayden Tyan, Todd Hunsaker, Jacob Withrow, and Javon Coyle ran fourth in 54.6.

Kimball was to participate in the Potter Dix Junior High Invite being held at Kimball this past Wednesday, and will host their own Invite on April 21 with a 9 a.m. start time.
