Karen J. Zerr

Karen Jo Zerr, 61 died Monday, March 28, 2016 at her home in Garden City. She was born July 8, 1954 in Sidney, Nebraska the daughter of Richard & Bette (Bauer) Wistrom.

Karen grew up on a farm near Dix, Nebraska. She attended school there and graduated from high school in 1972. Karen lived in Lincoln, Ne., Kimball, Ne., and Gove, Ks. before moving to Garden City in 1992. She has lived in Garden City since. A farm wife, Karen also worked for the phone company while living in Kimball, Nebraska and she also worked in Garden City at Country Heart. Karen was a member of the American Cancer Society and Finney County Relay for Life. She enjoyed collecting antiques, going to the casino, and her cats.

On April 20, 1985 she married Dennis Zerr in Kimball, Nebraska. He survives. Other survivors include two sisters Kristi Janicek of Greeley, Colorado and Cathy Scheele of Temecula, California.

Friends may greet the family from 10:00 a.m. to Noon on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City. A private family inurnment will take place at a later date in Dix, Nebraska. The family request memorials given to the Finney County Relay for Life in care of Garnand Funeral Home of Garden City. Condolences may be given at garnandfuneralhomes.com.
