Kimball will field a Legion baseball team

The Legion Baseball field in Kimball has been used for soccer and town league softball and baseball games in the absence of a Legion team. Named for longtime coach Dale Hendrickson, the field will once again be the site for Legion games as coaches and volunteers begin the work needed to prepare the location. The extensive work will include the grounds, bleachers, lights and possibly the scoreboard.

Legion Baseball is returning to Kimball, thanks in large part to Luke Dea who will serve the program as Manager and assistant coach. Coach Dea said that Wade Brashear will serve as head coach this summer and after calling for signups earlier, they have 15 young men registered and Kimball will field a Junior Legion Team which is under age 17.

Dea said they have been working on the Legion Field and should have it ready to go soon. They plan to start practice this week with their first game of the season set for May 15, a double header on the home field. Dea has lined up a 20 regular game schedule with four home dates and eight home games as double headers will be played on all home dates. In addition, they will play in a Sidney Tournament the first week of June, and also plan to play in the C-7 state qualifying tournament that starts July 8 in Ravenna, Nebraska.

Great to see Legion Baseball return to Kimball!
