Potter-Dix ladies earned matching wins last week

The Lady Coyotes overwhelmed the Garden County Lady Eagles on Tuesday, Feb. 16 in Oshkosh building on an early lead with each quarter netting double digit scoring.

Leading the Lady Coyote pack was sophomore Trinity Langley with 12 points to her credit, shooting 6/8 field goals followed by Alexus Rozelle with eleven, including 5/12 two-pointers and a one of two free throws.

Audrey Juelfs contributed nine points, Dawson Sharman seven, Brooke Glass and Anna McLaughlin four each and Payge Hoffman and Cortney Lewis two each.

Garden County’s roster of five was led by Courtney Stegman with eleven to her credit, including three treys followed by Megan Dormann with nine when she landed three treys of her own. Lady Eagle Autumn Smith added four to the board and Kayleen Sullivan with two.

The Lady Coyotes out rebounded their hosts, nearly doubling Garden County’s 23 rebounds, with a total of 40 grabs.

Juelfs grabbed nine offensive and three defensive rebounds, totaling 12 and added six assists and seven steals to her credit with just one turnover.

Rozelle pulled down nine and was credited with two assists and fours steals, also giving away just one turnover and McLaughlin pulled down seven.

The Lady Coyotes played a tight game, keeping turnovers to just nine compared to the Lady Eagles’ 19 and fouls were just kept to eight and nine respectively.

The Lady Coyotes brought home a second big win when they hosted the South Platte Lady Blue Knights on Thursday, Feb. 18.

More big scoring early on was met with much of the same from the Big Springs ladies, as the first quarter ended with a tied score at 15 points each. The Lady Coyotes earned 13 in the second and held their opponents to just eight closing out the first half with a 28-23 lead.

The Potter-Dix girls came back from halftime ready to play some ball and they added another 15 on the board by the end of the third quarter while the visitors scored just five.

In the final the Lady Knights stepped their game up a bit and added nine to the board while Potter-Dix added eight, but the comeback was not enough to tie up a win for the visitors.

Juelfs led the Coyotes with 18 points to her credit, netting seven of 12 attempted field goals and shooting 4/5 from the line. Sharman followed with 14 including a whopping four treys!

Rozelle added nine to the board and McLaughlin contributed six while Glass and Langley each added two.

Although rebounding was down from the previous game, Juelfs and Rozelle each pulled down nine. Turnovers were higher, at 18 as were personal fouls with a total of 24. Of those, McLaughlin and Langley each fouled out and Rozelle racked up four.

In the end, the Lady Coyotes pulled together matching wins last week. Coming up the Potter-Dix girls with a 15-16 record for the season will host the Hyannis Lady Longhorns, also 15-16 in the season, on Friday, Feb. 26 for a non-league game.
