New Dimension brings home the gold

New Dimension, Kimball High School's show choir, recently competed in the Nebraska Choral Directors Association (NCDA) competition, the second competition for the show choir, at Imperial and brought home one of four gold ratings.

Out of 21 participating groups, just four brought home a gold rating. According to vocal music teacher Jacob Hoffman, to receive a gold rating at the NCDA competition in class C a group must score a combined 165 out of 200 points from the two scoring judges.

In addition to Kimball, the other gold finalists were the 21st Century Singers from Bayard, the 9th Street Singers from Chase County and Scottsbluff's Choralaires.

Their next competition is the SPVA music competition in late March, then the District Music Competition in late April.

"We will continue to clean our show and improve our vocals and choreography to obtain the best possible scores at our upcoming competitions," teacher Jacob Hoffman said. "I am extremely proud of how the show choir members have come together as a group this year. This ensemble is the pinnacle of the Kimball vocal music program and its members have always represented their group, their school, their community and themselves in the highest fashion. I feel I am extremely lucky to get to work with so many great young musicians on a daily basis. Special thanks to our accompanist, Kristi Hiles-Smith, for all of her hard work and commitment to helping us reach our musical goals, and to the entire Kimball Public Schools administration for their support of the fine arts."
