Vernon E. Adels

Vernon Elmer Adels passed away Sunday, Jan. 31, 2016 at home with his family present.

Vernon was born March 8, 1930 in Kimball, Nebraska on the family farm.

He was raised in Kimball and attended St. John's Lutheran parochial school thru 8th grade and graduated from Kimball County High School in 1947.

He entered the US Navy and was stationed in San Diego, California.

He married Shirley Dickerson on Oct. 28, 1953 in Kimball, Nebraska.

They lived in Kimball and he was employed at Safeway.

To this union, one son Rick, was born in 1954.

He continued to work at Safeway, and transferred to Loveland, Colo. in 1956. In 1971, Vern and Shirley established and operated Adelsweiss Greenhouse for 20 years.

He worked for Country General, Collins Cashway, Merchantile, and Bomgaars until he retired in 1983.

Vern enjoyed his yard and gardening, he was involved in an Old Car Club, an Ostomy group, he sponsored youth group and loved the outdoors and all animals. He enjoyed family gatherings and spending time with friends.

Vern was predeceased by his parents, 5 brothers, Tom, John, Clarence, Sye and Herm, two sisters Mary & Ann and his only son Rick.

He is survived by his wife of almost 63 years, Shirley, one brother Bill and one sister Ella, many nieces, nephews and many wonderful friends. He will be missed by all.

A Celebration of Life Service was held on Friday, Feb. 5, 2016 at 1 pm at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Loveland, Colo.
