Wildcats struggle through tough losses

The Banner County Wildcats hosted the Crawford Rams for a non-conference match up in Harrisburg and despite their efforts, the Rams walked away with a 52-15 win.

The Banner County boys started the game racking up fouls with four on the board in the first three minutes.

Cole Blanke scored the first points for Banner County with just three minutes left in the first quarter.

The Wildcats hustled through the quarter leading to a series of turnovers as they struggled with ball control.

Their improved hustle and communication was just not enough to pull out a win against the bigger Crawford team, which led the first quarter 31-2.

Following the loss on Friday the Wildcats traveled to Minatare and though they improved scoring by three, they were once again outplayed by their opponents, 50-18.

"I was pleased with the effort the kids put forward on Friday and Saturday. I thought we did a better job defensively than in previous games," Coach Cole Wyatt said. "I also thought we kept our composure emotionally better in both games."

The Wildcats have struggled through the season with a small team of inexperienced players, but they have continued to play 100 percent through each game.

"Things we need to improve on is communicating with our teammates on the court," Wyatt added. "Conditioning is always a factor for us, as we get tired the mental mistakes happen more frequently. Over all we improved as a team this week and we are looking forward to continuing to get better every practice and game."
