Kimball picks up win at Potter

Kimball picked up wins at Potter-Dix this past week in contests featuring the neighboring communities. The stands were full and were treated to some good high school basketball as the Class D-2 Coyotes gave a good accounting of themselves against the larger C-l Kimball.

The Potter-Dix girls came into the contest ranked number 7 in the state C-2 rankings, but got off to a very slow start trailing 17-3 at the quarter break, and were down 28-12 at half time. They got their game going in the third period out scoring the Lady Longhorns 12 to 5 and trailed 33-24 entering the final period but ended up losing 46-30 to their visitors.

Although not state ranked, the Lady Longhorns are also highly touted with their 8-2 record after the Potter-Dix win, and their two losses are to state ranked Sidney in Class Band Mitchell in C-l, with both losses by a total of 7 points.

Kimball got a double-double from freshman Kate Reader who led the winners with 13 points and 11 rebounds along with 4 steals, 2 blocks, and 2 assists. Danika Daum finished with 10 points and 5 rebounds. Alex Reader had 9 points hitting 3 treys and hauled in 5 rebounds. Madison Biesecker had 7 points with a trey and 6 rebounds. Arica McCloud also had 7 points along with 5 rebounds, 4 steals and 2 assists. Myriah Tyan failed to score but contributed 6 rebounds and 3 steals.

Audrey Juelfs was high for the Lady Coyotes with 9 including 2 treys, had 8 rebounds, 8 assists and 1 block. Dawson Sharman had 7 points with 1 trey and 3 steals. Trinity Langley had 6 points, 7 rebounds and 3 blocks. Alexus Rozelle had 6 points, and Paige Hoffman had 2 points.

In team stats, Kimball pulled 38 rebounds and Potter Dix 35. Kimball had 13 fouls and Potter Dix 12. The Coyotes were 3/10 at the foul line, 3/22 on 3 point attempts and 9/41 on 2 point field goals. Kimball was 6/13 at the line, 4/23 on 3 point attempts and 14/43 on 2 pointers, had 16 steals, 7 assists and 2 blocked shots.

The boy's game was hard fought before Kimball won out 67-56.

The hosting Coyotes led 11-10 at the quarter break with Kimball on top 29-27 at half time. The Horns exploded for 19 points in the third period with Jordan Greenwood scoring 10 to jump out to a 48-38 lead entering the final period, and put the.game away with another 19 point fourth quarter.

A big night for Greenwood as the 5'11" junior led all scorers with 28 points including 4 treys. He also led Kimball in steals with 6. Brandon Barker ended up with 12 points with 1 trey. Tyler Magninie had 11 points with a trey. Angel Flores had 5 with 1 trey, Trent Rutledge 5 along with 12 rebounds, 4 steals and 4 assists. Jaden Withrow 4 points and Creg Barker 2.

Edward Barnes was high for the Coyotes with 13 including 2 treys, had 8 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 blocks. Cole Christensen had 12 points and 4 steals. Coby Hicks had 11 points, 9 rebounds and 3 blocks. Noah Nelson and Sam Bogert 8 points each, Kelsey Rozelle and Aaron Crawford had 2 each.

Potter-Dix won the rebound battle with 36 boards to Kimball's 23. Kimball had 12 fouls and PD 16. The Coyotes were 4/12 at the line, 4/13 on 3 point tries and 20/43 on 2 point attempts. Kimball held their turnovers to just 12, were 12/17 at the line, 7/20 on 3 point shots and 17/47 on 2 pointers. They also charted 19 steals and 11 assists.

A 2 quarter boy's V game was played also with Kimball winning 38-10. Scoring for Kimball were Brady Kilgore with 9, Grant Hickman 7, Andrew McCloud 6, Izaac Reuter 6, Colton Mielke 4, Corey Travis, Kole Bush and Ryan Soper all with 2 each.

For Potter-Dix Noah Nelson had 6, Aaron Crawford 2, Tyrus Gawith 1, and Edward Barnes 1.
