Cluff fourth at Bridgeport

The Kimball High Wrestling Team took part in the Bridgeport/Sidney Tournament this past Saturday in yet another very strong, and talented gathering of the best that Western Nebraska has to offer.

Kimball freshman, Jordan Cluff, at 106 pounds was the lone Longhorn grappler to place, finishing fourth in his weight class. Cluff won his match over Dillman of Mitchell by fall, and lost 3 matches including his match for third place.

Garrett Pedersen at 113 pounds was 2-3 on the day winning his two matches by fall and finished 5th overall. Zachery Wagner at 120 had a tough day, losing all matches he was involved in. Trevor Ryschon at 126 also lost both of his matches.

Toby McManigal at 160 was 1-2 on the day pinning Livermont of Gering in :41 seconds. Eric Escajeda at 285 pounds lost twice. Jake Jenkins, wrestling at 120 pounds in the JV division, suffered 3 losses.

"The Bridgeport/Sidney Tournament proved to be a tough tournament for us," said Kimball coach Wade Brashear. "With our only top-four placer being Jordan Cluff at 106 who placed 4th, we need to show more energy and fight. Overall we are a young, inexperienced group, so our need for progression is to be expected. We continue to grow and build toughness as the season progresses."

Next event for the Kimball wrestlers is the Western Trails Conference Tournament being hosted by Kimball this year on January 7th.
