Kimball High wrestlers continue to battle

The Kimball High Wrestlers took part in the 50th annual Banner County Tournament this past Saturday but were missing three of their wrestlers for various reasons. Trevor Ryschon, at 126 pounds, finished fourth for the Longhorns top placing.

Coach Wade Brashear commenting on the tournament said, "In the first round we didn't wrestle very well. We are hindered by youth and inexperience which gives us tough first round draws in the seeding. However, we continued to battle, picking up wins through the later rounds. All of our wrestlers picked up wins with the exception of Jake Jenkins at 120, who injury defaulted after the first round due to illness. We were missing three wrestlers with Jordan Cluff gone with his family, Dakota Flores taking an ACT Test, and Cody Kirby home with illness," Brashear said.

Garrett Pedersen at 113 lost twice by fall but won twice by fall and won by an injury withdraw leaving him at 3-2. Trevor Ryschon, at 126, had 2 wins by fall and lost 3 by fall. Zachery Wagner at 126 was also 2-3 with 2 falls and 3 losses by fall.

Toby McManigal at 160 was 1-3 with a win by fall and 3 losses by fall. Same story for Eric Escajeda at 285 with 1 win by fall and 3 losses by fall.

The Horns will be right back Bridgeport/Sidney Invitational Bridgeport with a 9 a.m. start in action this Saturday at the being held this year in time.
