Christmas opening in Kimball this weekend

Local stores open for Small Business Saturday

Don't let the chill in the afternoon air keep you home on Saturday, Nov. 28, as this weekend begins the Christmas season in Kimball.

The local Eagles club invites everyone in from the cold for some warm soup on Saturday, Nov. 28 from 4 to 6 p.m.

The Calvary United Methodist Women will open the Quarter Store from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Hays Building, located at 103 S. Chestnut. Refreshments will be served and door prizes will be handed out. Sales for children begin on Saturday through Dec. 13, at which time adults too can purchase items for gift-giving for 25 cents.

Be sure to get there early, you don't want to miss the annual Parade of Lights ushering in Kimball's Christmas opening at 5:45 p.m.

Santa plans to attend the local parade and will greet old and young as well as hear requests at his den in the Eagles Club following the parade.

Larsen's Jewelry Store will have their Christmas opening following the parade and will be open until 8 Friday night. The store begins the season with sales and refreshments and the first 100 patrons through the door will receive a gift bag.

If early evening parades don't suit your fancy, the Calvary United Methodist Women will open the annual Quarter Store on Friday from 4 to 8 pm with refreshments and door prizes. Sales at the Quarter Store are offered to children only through Dec. 13, at which time adults can also take advantage of the bargains.

The Sisters Grimm bookstore in Bushnell will host four businesses without their own store-fronts for Small Business Saturday from 10 am to 2 pm. Free gift wrapping and refreshments will be provided as well.

Local stores will be open on Small Business Saturday during regular business hours, and many will offer sales on Christmas items.

To finish out the weekend, and begin the Christmas season in Kimball, the Presbyterian Church will show the movie, "Miracle on 34th Street" on Sunday, Nov. 29 at 3 p.m.
