Lady Coyotes split home triangular

The Potter-Dix Lady Coyotes split a pair of matches at their triangular on Oct. 20, when they overcame the Banner County Lady Wildcats 2-0 in a non-league test.

Sophomore MaKenna Dahlgrin led the Banner County ladies against Potter Dix in kills with 4, and was the sole effective blocker in the match.

Senior Lady Wildcat Danielle Flick served the single ace against Potter-Dix.

The Potter-Dix ladies followed the win with a 2-1 loss to rival Leyton.

Lady Warrior Natalie Cruise, a senior, racked up 11 kills, three aces, two blocks and 22 digs against Potter-Dix.

Cheyenne Nickel contributed 26 digs, six blocks and six kills, while teammate Taylor Berner added three aces, five blocks and 19 digs to the efforts against the Lady Coyotes.

Triangular stats for the Lady Coyotes were unavailable at press time.

Following the split matches, the Lady Coyotes traveled to Chappell on Oct. 27, where they faced the Creek Valley Storm and added another hard-fought win to their 22-3 record

The Potter-Dix ladies racked up 32 kills while holding their opponents to just 11. Leading the team in kills were Regyn Hicks, Dawson Sharman, and Audrey Juelfs with seven each.

The Lady Coyotes faced a tough defense, with the Storm effectively blocking eight potential points during the fast paced game, which totaled 130 digs to save the play. Creek Valley racked up 57 digs to the Lady Coyotes’ 73.

Serving up aces may have been the key to winning against the Storm, as the Lady Coyotes handed out eight and kept their opponents at just one. Lanie Thies led the team with four aces on the night, while four others had one ace each.

The Potter-Dix ladies will travel again tomorrow (Friday), to match off with South Platte at Big Springs.
