KCSO called to stabbing on I-80

Arrests made without incident; charges filed on both occupants

Two people were arrested Monday night after law enforcement was called to a disturbance on Interstate 80 near the Wyoming border.

The Kimball County Sheriff’s Office received a call of a domestic disturbance on I-80 near mile marker five just after 9:30 p.m. Monday.

KCSO Sergeant Brandon Loy responded, according to Sheriff Harry Gillway, and upon arrival observed the suspect vehicle. He made contact with a female driver, Kyanna Wolf, 26, of Amberg, Wis.

According to Loy’s report, Wolf was observed with blood on her hands and was subsequently placed under arrest without further incident.

The male passenger, Casey L. Ashburn, 22, suffered from an apparent knife wound to his left shoulder, as well as bite marks on his back.

Loy called for the Kimball County Ambulance Service to transport Ashburn, who is homeless, according to his Colorado identification, to Kimball Health Services. He was treated and released into police custody.

“Both parties stated that there was a struggle and both were then taken into custody,” Gillway said.

Wolf was charged with second degree domestic assault, a felony. Ashburn was charged with third degree domestic assault and felony violation of a protection order from Weld County, Colo.

Gillway said the investigation is ongoing and a search warrant for the vehicle was requested. Loy was assisted by four state troopers from the Scottsbluff office.
