Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First
Pastors from New York City recently visited Wyoming and the Nebraska Panhandle, which included a stop at the Nebraska High Point. It was a return trip for the pastors, who hosted pastors from this area a year ago.
From Sept. 28 to Oct. 1, the Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod sponsored a pastoral conference in Cheyenne. Pastors from Wyoming, Nebraska and Colorado hosted clergy from New York, including Long Island, Queens, Manhattan and the Bronx. In total, 100 pastors participated in the event.
The goal of the conference was for pastors coming from very different parts of the county to grow closer together in God's word.
One of the scheduled events allowed pastors to tour three rural congregations in order to see how life and ministry join together in this region. The tour began with lunch at Immanuel in Burns, Wyo., a sister congregation with St. John's in Kimball. Next, they traveled to Grace in Pine Bluffs, Wyo., for desserts. Finally, the pastors toured Zion in Grover, Colo.
As part of the tour, the pastors saw Panorama Point and the tri-state marker. Nineteen pastors participated in the rural congregations tour; they were impressed with our wide-open spaces, small towns, and the commitment of God's people to their congregations.
Area pastors traveled to New York in May 2014 in order to see and understand better how pastors fulfill their ministries in a very urban setting. We thank God for strengthening our fellowship together in God's word.
