Kimball rallied for its first win of the season last Friday in Cambridge.
The Longhorns erased a 13-0 deficit and came back for a 14-13 victory.
"I thought the guys played really well," said Kimball football coach Nick Kuxhausen. "We had a tough start getting down 13-0 in the second quarter, but kept fighting and cut the deficit to 13-6 at halftime. We scored right out of halftime and took the lead with 14-13. Our defense played really well and kept us the lead for the rest of the game."
Cambridge (2-4) went up in the first quarter. The first touchdown was scored after Cambridge's Caden Houghtelling ran into the end zone, with the extra point attempt no good for a 6-0 lead.
The Trojans scored again with just 31 seconds left in the quarter when Tyler Wittle scored on an 80-yard touchdown reception. The extra point was good and Cambridge led 13-0.
The Longhorns (1-5) came back in the second and third quarter with their own pair of scores.
In the second quarter, Tyler Magninie found Ethan Land for a 3-yard touchown. The extra point attempt failed and the Horns trailed 13-6.
In the third quarter, Magninie hit Trent Rutledge for a 69-yard scoring pass to make it a 13-12 game. Angel Flores scored the successful 2-point conversion and the Longhorns went up 14-13.
Magninie completed 9-of-20 passes for 116 yards and two touchdowns in the game, and also rushed for 25 yards. Rutledge led the team with three receptions for 81 yards and a score, while Kyle Spicer also caught a trio of passes for 27 yards. Land also had two receptions for 34 yards and a touchdown.
Magninie's 25 yards on the ground led the team in rushing, while Spicer added 23 yards and Byron Rowley had 16 yards.
Defensively for the Horns, Creg Barker led the team with seven total tackles while Cody Kirby added five. Sam Tussing had a team-high two tackles for a loss.
Angle Flores and Rowley each had one interception, while Tussing and Spicer each recovered a fumble.
The Longhorns are back in action Friday when they host North Platte St. Pat's at 6 p.m. at Keith Staehr Field. The Irish are 5-1 on the season and have won five straight games. Their wins came against Wood River (62-6), Southern Valley (36-0), Ravenna (36-0), Hershey (13-12) and Bridgeport (54-8). The team's lone loss was to Doniphan-Trumbull (26-20) in the season opener.
