Medicare Part D workshop set for Oct. 29

Medicare Part D drug coverage costs the government and beneficiaries far less than originally projected by using competition between insurance companies to improve quality and reduce costs. People with Medicare can learn about Part D and find out how to reduce their own costs at a presentation about comparing drug plans for 2015.

Nebraska Senior Health Insurance Information Program is sponsoring “Choose the Right Medicare Drug Plan” on Oct. 29 at the Bemis Drug conference room in Kimball. The event is open to people with Medicare, their caregivers, and health care professionals. Appointments are required. There is no charge to attend. For more information, contact Sherri Roberds at 308-235-2886 to make your appointment.

The presentation will be given by Roberds, of the Nebraska Senior Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP). SHIIP, part of a national network funded by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, offers unbiased counseling and information about Medicare and related health insurance. SHIIP does not sell or promote any insurance products.

“Every year Part D plans can change prices, the drugs they cover, even the pharmacies where you get the biggest discount. That means that the best plan for you this year may not be the best plan for you next year. It’s important for people to compare Medicare drug plans every year,” said Roberds. “This workshop helps people with Medicare find out how to get the best coverage and lowest prices for the drugs they take.”
