Celebrating Farmers Day 2015

John Verser

Xana, the Kimball Police Department's K9, attacks Kimball Police Chief Darren Huff, left, during the K9 demonstration held Saturday afternoon at the ball field as part of Farmers Day. Huff, acting as a criminal in this scenario, is in a full bite suit and was not harmed in the demonstration. The dog's handler, Capt. Andy Bremer, is pictured at right. Huff said he hopes more law enforcement units are available for the next demonstration, and plans to make it an annual Farmers Day event.

A parade, plenty of food, games and fun, a K9 demonstration, demolition derby and even a wedding reception - yes, a wedding reception - were part of the 89th annual Farmers Day celebration last weekend. Check out additional photos in this week's edition of The Western Nebraska Observer.
