Cross, Klinkhammer repeat as rodeo royalty

The Kimball Library was a busy place last Saturday as two beautiful and charming young women competed for the title of 2016 Kimball Rodeo Princess.

Judges for the contest this year were Julianne Randall, Lorrell Walters and Stacy Whetstine. Nicole Delaplane won the speech and personal interview divisions. She is the daughter of Bryan And Cheryl Patrick of Harrisburg. Lacey Klinkhammer won in the horsemanship, and appearance and personality divisions, which brought her narrowly ahead in points and led to her winning the princess title for the second straight year. She is the daughter of Dave and Darla Klinkhammer of Kimball.

The queen title for the upcoming year will also be a repeat. Paige Cross, daughter of James and Lisa Cross of Banner County, eagerly offered to serve for another year.

Serving as rodeo royalty to both of these girls is nothing new, and they are eager to represent the PRCA Rodeo for a second go-around.

Their first event of the new year is Saturday and Sunday as the mounted shooting competition will be held at the Kimball County Fairgrounds.

For information or questions on how the girls can help you with an upcoming event, or for questions as to how you can help or contribute in any way, call Erika Loy at the Kimball Banner County UNL Extension office at 308-235-3122.
