Clara Ann Nelson

Clara Ann Nelson, 94, of Kimball, died at the Kimball County Manor on Saturday, July 18, 2015.

Funeral services for Clara Ann will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 23, at the Cantrell Funeral Home in Kimball with Owen Anderson officiating. Burial will be held in the Kimball cemetery.

The family would like to invite friends to the Kimball Eagles Club following the burial for a time of fellowship with the family in remembering Clara Ann.

Memorials have been established to the Kimball Eagle's Club or the Kimball County Manor. The services for Clara Ann have been entrusted to the Cantrell Funeral Home.

Clara Ann Nelson was born in Lexington on Dec. 13, 1920, the daughter of Sofus and Helen (Strube) Sorensen. She was raised in Albin, Wyo., and graduated from the Albin High School in 1938. She was married to John R. Nelson on June 3, 1939 in Albin. They moved to Kimball and raised their daughters, Joann Margaret and Janice Marie. Joann preceded her in death in 1984.

Clara Ann worked as a retail sales clerk in Kimball until retirement. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and spending time with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Her husband John preceded her in death in 1989. Clara continued her legacy by being active in the community, the Kimball Presbyterian Church and the Eagles Auxiliary. She moved to the Kimball County Manor in 2011.

Survivors include her daughter, Janice (Owen) Anderson of Melbeta; grandchildren, Becky Bland of Birch Tree, Mo., Mike (Laura) Townsend of Madison, Ala., Brenda Crofut of Springfield, Ore., Linda (Harold) VanWinkle of Winona, Mo., Jeff (Shellon) Anderson of Kimball., Richard (Shelley) Anderson of Gering, and David (Kim) Anderson of Melbeta; 22 great grandchildren, 32 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter; brothers, Fred, Bill, Bob and Earl; and sister, Maxine Boyce.
