Margie Walter Steele

Margie Doris Elvina (Pearson) Walter Steele of Delta, Colo., previously from Ovid, Colo., entered into eternal life June 8, 2015.

Born April 3, 1924 in Dix, .as a loving daughter of Gustaf Albion Pearson and Ellen Augusta (Danielson) Pearson-Diemert. She was the fourth born of a family of five.

Margie graduated from Kimball High School with honors at 16 years of age, relocating to Denver, becoming an exceptional telephone operator until relocating to Mitchell, where she met and married William (Bill) Samson in 1946, which ended in divorce in 1971. Two children were born of this union. She married Gottlieb Walter in 1974 from Ovid, Colo., where she had also been an exceptional certified nursing assistant at the Julesburg Nursing Home for 16 years prior to retiring. She married Billy Steele in 2008 in Julesburg, Colo.

All spouses preceded her in death. After the loss of Billy, she relocated to Crossroads Assisted Living in Delta, Colo., enjoying her days until needing to be transferred to Colorow Nursing Home in Olathe, Colo ,. in March 2015.

Survivors include her son, Kenneth Martin Samson (Julie) of Littleton, Colo .; a daughter, Patricia Ellen Vannest, of Delta, Colo .; two granddaughters, four great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews as well as extended family.

She was preceded in death by sisters, Ruth Warnock, Helen Burback, Dorothy Shelburne; a brother, Donald Pearson; one son-in-law, Elmer Vannest; three and grandsons, Eric M. Samson, Lance K. Vannest and Shane E. Vannest.

A celebration of life will be held at the Ovid (Colo.) Methodist Church, located at 203 5th St., at 11 a.m., Saturday, July 11, immediately followed by a luncheon in the church annex provided by the United Methodist Women.

A family graveside service will be held in Kimball.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Northeastern Colorado.
