A total of 268 entries raced at the Julesburg Dragstrip over the May 30-31 weekend. On Saturday, 125 cars competed for the Colorado State Championship in their respective classes.
On Sunday, 143 cars were on hand for a chance to take home part of a $4,500 purse in the 8th Annual Curley's Big Bucks Shootout, sponsored by Curley's Machine Works. Also in attendance were the Rocky Mountain Stick Shifters and the Rocky Mountain Superchargers.
Track operator Todd Barowsky said this was the biggest race weekend he had ever had. Racers came from as far as Pueblo and Canon City, Colo., to take part in the weekend events.
