Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First

'Bioblitz' set for June 19-20 at Oliver Reservoir

The Rocky Mountain Bird Observatory will host a “Bioblitz” at Oliver Reservoir Recreation Area June 19-20.

The event begins at 1 p.m. on Friday, June 19, and ends at 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 20.

The Bioblitz is a more than 24-hour celebration of western Nebraska wildlife. Learn from area naturalists and scientists as they share their knowledge of local wildlife and the processes used to study nature. Come learn first-hand about birds, insects, fish, plants, reptiles, bats and astronomy. Camping is welcome for all, or stay for the sessions of your choice.

This is a free event for the whole family. Sessions are subject to change due to weather conditions such as heat or rain.

Pre-registration is encouraged as to have an accurate head count for sessions and meals, but all are welcome. Those who preregister can receive a free Bioblitz T-shirt (quantities and sizes are limited). Pre–registration is available by contacting Alie Mayes at 660-619-8453 or [email protected]. Also contact Mayes for a list of suggested supplies to bring and what will be provided.
