Shirley J. Jurgens

Shirley J. Jurgens, 54, of Gering, died Thursday, May 21, 2015, at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff.

Shirley was born Dec. 10, 1960, at Rapid City, S.D., to Jerry James and Zoa (Burton) McCloud. She received her education in the Scottsbluff Public Schools. She was united in marriage to Michael Jurgens on July 11, 1992 at Scotts Bluff National Monument. Mike died in 1993 as the result of a car accident.

Shirley was a hard worker, providing for her family no matter what it took. She worked at A-1 Rental for 18 years (1993-2010), three years at Terry Carpenter Inc. (2010-current), and at McConaughy Discovery Center (2010) until ill health.

Shirley is survived by her fiancé, Bryan Armstrong; daughter and son-in-law, Crystal and Andy Johnston and their children Crysta, Trayton and Ryan; son and daughter-in-law, Jeremy and Tabitha McCloud and their children Travis, Jordyn, Joseph, Jaylee and Justyce; daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Chris Torres; daughter and son-in-law, Sam and Jared Iron Horse and their children Myckah and Josiah; step-son and daughter-in-law, Brett and Courtney Armstrong and their children Chase and Mason; mother, Zoa McCloud; siblings, Dennis and Jeanie McCloud of Newman Grove, Tina and John Vance of Gering, Terry McCloud of Gering, Dewey McCloud of Kimball, Jerry and Charidith McCloud and son Austin of Tekamah, Greg and Pam McCloud of Columbus, and Kim Fletcher of Gering; several nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Shirley was preceded in death by her father, Jerry James McCloud; husband, Michael Jurgens; brother, Edward McCloud; grandparents, Fred and Zoa Gross; and nephew, Austin McCloud.

Visitation was held from 1-7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 26, and 9 a.m. until service time on Wednesday, May 27, at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel.

Her funeral service was held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 27, at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel in Scottsbluff with Pastor Lyle Hinebach officiating. Burial followed at West Lawn Cemetery in Gering.
