Muneio, Biesecker win SPVA titles

Madison Biesecker and Ryan Muneio emerged as SPVA Conference champions for Kimball at the conference track and field meet held at Hershey this past Friday. Muneio got his gold medal winning the boys 400 meters with his personal best time of 51.90. He had a good day as he also ran 4th in the 800 in 2:06.70 and ran a leg on the 4x100 relay that finished 3rd in 45.60. Biesecker, fresh off a good night at the Best in the West, won the long jump at l5'7.5," ran 4th in the 100 meter dash in 13.60, was 5th in the 300 hurdles with a season best of 51.8, and ran a leg on the 4x100 relay team that was 5th with a time of 53.80.

North Platte St. Pats won the boys team title with 109 points edging out Chase County who was runnerup with 105. Bridgeport had 86, Perkins County 76, Kimball 55.5, Hershey 49, Sutherland 34.5, and Maxwell 12.

Chase County won the girls team title with 147 points with St. Pats runnerup with 78, Sutherland had 77, Bridgeport 71, Hershey 48, Kimball 46, Maxwell 40, and Perkins County 18.

Other high lights on the day were Colton Stull 2nd in the 100 meter dash in 11.50. AJ Williams ran 3rd in the 3200 with an excellent time for the young sophomore in his first race at this distance clocking 11.05. Jon Withrow was 5th in the 200 in 24.40 and coach Gene Mohr said his sprinters are really improving their running form and finishing their races strong.

The boys 4x100 relay team of Muneio, Stull and the Withrow brothers ran 3rd in 45.60. Trent Rutledge ran 6th in the 110 meter high hurdles in 18.40, but was off his usual height in the pole vault going 11'6" for 5th place.

Jaden Withrow also was off his usual form in the triple jump after winning the Best in the West he ended up 3rd at the SPVA with a jump of 40'11." He was 2nd in the long jump at 19'1." Tyler Magninie was 5th in the high jump at 5'6."

Kimball's young 4x800 relay team of Kaden Adrian, Ryan Soper, Nicholas Thomas-Lewis, and AJ Williams ran 6th in 9:40.10.

Ali Hunsaker got into the scoring act for Kimball running 4th in the 200 in 28.20, 6th in the 400 in 1:06.30, 6th in the pole vault at 7'6," and joined with Raelynn Hinton, and the Biesecker sisters to run 5th in the 4x100 relay with a time of 53.80.

Hannah Biesecker was 3rd in the 200 meter dash edging out her team mate Ali Hunsaker with her time of 28.10. Mikayla Fiehtner tied for 3rd in the high jump at 4'6." Every week Danika Daum and Jessica Hanks battle for bragging rights in the weights and this week Daum won out finishing 5th in the shot put at 32'10" with Hanks 6th at 32'2.5. In the discus Daum was 3rd at 99'7," and Hanks 5th at 99'4."

The final tune up before district is tomorrow (Friday) at the Bayard B-C-D meet with an 8:30 a.m. start time. The Longhorns go right back to Bayard for their District meet on May 14 with a start time of 9 a.m. according to the Kimball High School calendar.
