Roadwork to begin Monday from Dix to Cheyenne County line

Weather permitting, work is scheduled to begin the week of May 4 on US-30 from Dix east to the Cheyenne county line, according to the Nebraska Department of Roads.

Paulsen, Inc., of Cozad, Nebraska, has the $2,766,948 contract for concrete repair, ADA sidewalk upgrades, milling and resurfacing work. The project will involve removal of four inches of asphalt by cold milling and replacing it with new asphalt. Work will also involve repair of the bridge deck on L-53A, including waterproofing and sealing, as well as new guardrail. Rumble strips will be installed on the outside edges of the asphalt throughout the project.

Traffic will be maintained through the milling and paving construction area with the use of a pilot vehicle. During construction on the L-53A bridge, traffic will be maintained with the use of temporary signals and 12-foot width restrictions. Work is anticipated to be completed by mid-July.

The Department of Roads’ project manager is Jim Johnson of Gering. Motorists are reminded to drive cautiously through highway construction zones.
