Kimball, Banner FFA teams show strong at state

Both the Kimball and Banner County FFA had strong showings at the state competition held last week in Lincoln.

The Kimball livestock evaluation team won a purple ribbon by finishing fourth overall among all teams at state. Members of the team were Monica Wasielewski, Tyler Shaw, Rowdy Keller and Kailey Dickerson.

Wasielewski finished third individually in the event as well, and also received a purple ribbon. Shaw and Keller received blue ribbons, while Dickerson won a red ribbon.

Jessica Portillo also won a white ribbon in welding, while Shaw won his second blue ribbon in veterinary science.

Kimball also participated in agronomy, floriculture and farm management. Results for junior parliamentary procedure, job interview and honor choir were not available at press time.

The Banner County meat evaluation team finished 10th overall and received a purple ribbon. Christina Grubbs had the high score for Banner and received a purple ribbon. Kadan Huber also received a purple ribbon, while Ashlynne Hanan won a blue ribbon.

The Banner livestock management team also fared well and took 28th overall. The ag technology and mechanics team finished 29th, while the agronomy team finished 35th. Sara Taggart and MaKenna Dahlgrin each won a red ribbon in agronomy, while Rebecca Brown and Megan Gifford each received a white ribbon.
