State amateur golf championships heading to Kimball

Exciting news to report concerning Kimball and Western Nebraska Golf fans. The Nebraska Golf Association has announced they have selected our beautiful Four Winds Golf Course as the site of this summer's 47th Nebraska Junior Amateur and 15th Nebraska Girl's Amateur Golf Championships! The dates are July 14-16 with the girls to play 36 holes and the boys 54 holes, all stroke play.

Ben Vigil, Manager of Association Services for the Nebraska Golf Association, was in town this past Monday to meet with Four Winds Pro Chad Wise and our own Nebraska Golf Association Hall of Famer, Wilma Gilliland, to go over preliminary steps in setting up guidelines they will use, and to make sure everyone is on the same page.

This is a great opportunity for Kimball to show off our wonderful golf course that Jeremy Williams and his crew manicures to perfection. A great opportunity to display the professional manner in which Four Winds Pro Chad Wise and his staff greet and care for everyone who enjoys playing the course. A great opportunity for everyone of Kimball and area to show the golfers, and their families, how friendly our community really is.

There is going to be a need for many volunteers to handle many different jobs so get ready to raise your hands. Call Wilma if you want to help, or let Chad know at the Pro Shop.

We will give you lots more details as we get closer to the actual tournament dates, but for certain, spectators are welcome to turn out and follow and observe the best young golfers the state of Nebraska has to offer. Mark these dates on your calendars.
