Slow start hurts Wildcats in subdistrict defeat

A tough start hurt Banner County in a 63-47 loss to Minatare last Tuesday in the sub-district playoffs.

The Wildcats (6-14) were outscored 17-2 in the first quarter in the defeat. The Indians (20-2) used the strong start to advance, holding leads of 25-15 at halftime and 40-28 heading into the fourth quarter. After the first quarter, Banner was outscored by just one point, 46-45.

Tyson Dahlgrin had a monster game to lead the Wildcats, scoring 26 points and pulling down 18 rebounds. Michael McKown added 10 points in the game.

Three Minatare players reached double figures in the scoring column, led by Yovan Perez with 16 points. Minatare went on to win the sub-districts, and faced Cody-Kilgore in the district title game on Tuesday.
