Longhorns' season ends with loss to Bobcats

The season ended for the Kimball High boys basketball team in a 59-42 loss to state ranked Hemingford in first round play of the C2-l2 sub-district tournament. With the loss, the Longhorns closed out the season with a 6 win-14 loss record. Hemingford advanced into the sub-district finals where they fell to higher ranked Bridgeport 59-57 in overtime, thus ending the season for the Bobcats as well.

Like always, the Kimball boys gave good effort but were simply up against one of the top teams in their class in the state. The Bobcats led from start to finish. Tyler Magninie led Kimball with 14 points with 2 treys and 2/2 foul shooting. Three players with 7 points each for Kimball including Jaden Withrow who hit 2 of 3 trey attempts, Jon Withrow who had 1 trey, and Colton Stull who also had 1 trey. Trent Rutledge, Angel Flores, and Michael Ferguson all had 2 points and Enrique Cajero had 1. Top rebounders were Cajero with 6, Rutledge 5, Stull 4, Magninie 4, and Jaden Withrow 4.

In team stats, Kimball had 15 turnovers, 10 fouls, 9 steals, 7 assists, 14 offensive and 17 defensive rebounds for 31 total, shot 6/11 at the foul line, 9/37 on 2 point field goals, and 6/24 on 3 point attempts.

Hemingford had 12 fouls, 30 rebounds, was 5/9 at the line, 24/43 on 2 point field goals, and 2/10 on 3 pointers. Matthew Wood led their scoring with 15, John Manning had 13, Colt Foster 13, to give them three players in double figure scoring.
