Jonathon Withrow and Enrique Cajero signed their letters of intent to attend Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell, South Dakota this week while their families and Kimball High football coaches looked on. Actually, Dakota Wesleyan had three verbal commitments from Kimball High players as Ben Sauter had also gave a verbal commitment but is now undecided as he has some shoulder problems that is keeping him on the fence right now.
The Tigers have recruited 41 incoming players according to information forwarded to the Observer, the largest class this early ever for fourth-year head coach Ross Cimpl. From this group, 25 are from South Dakota, 10 from Nebraska, 3 from Minnesota, 2 from Wyoming, and 1 from New Mexico.
Withrow is listed as a 5'9" 170 pound running back who will join DWU after four years as a starter for Kimball High. During his high school career he recorded 3,130 career rushing yards averaging 6.1 yards per carry, a school record, had 40 career touchdowns and 1,044 return yards. On defense he had 117 career tackles, was named all conference, all district, and all state honorable mention each of the last three seasons. Jon also wrestled, played basketball, and ran track at Kimball and was a member of the honor roll the last three years. He is the son of John and Michelle Withrow and plans to major in special education.
Enrique Cajero was recruited as a 5'11" 195 pound kicker/punter and joins the DWU special teams to add depth for those talents. Enrique finished his high school career as the all time leading scorer for kicking, made the longest field goal in Kimball High history of 43 yards, is a two time all conference and all district player, is a member of the Longhorn basketball and track teams, and is a member of the honor roll. He is the son of Magdaleno and Monica Cajero and plans to major in graphic design.
