Kimball wins WTC, Bridgeport meets

The Kimball High School speech team was crowned the Western Trails Conference champions at the conference meet at Bayard High School last Wednesday. 

Individual awards went to the following students: Leisha Casimiro, first in informative speaking; Jessica Portillo, first in serious prose; Jodell Schulte, first in entertainment speaking; Nicholas Thomas-Lewis and Jessica Portillo, first in duet acting; Audrey Day and Kennedy Lewis, first and second in extemporaneous speaking; Kennedy Lewis and Connor Moore, first and second in humorous prose; Audrey Day, Taylor Muldoon, Audrey McDowall, Kallie Bush and Sanford Day, second in oral interpretation of drama; Christianne Clower, second in poetry; and Jessica Portillo, second in persuasive speaking. All of those individuals were also named all-conference.

Additional awards went to: Kaden Adrian, Nicholas Thomas-Lewis, Ryan Soper, Sebastian Portillo and Paycen Harroun, fourth place in oral interpretation of drama; Darcy Usher, fourth place in poetry; Nicholas Thomas-Lewis, fifth place in poetry; Taylor Muldoon, sixth place in serious prose; and Darcy Usher and Kaden Adrian, sixth place in duet acting;

The Kimball speech team won the Class C/D Championship at the Bridgeport Invitational on Saturday. 

Individual medals went to: Jessica Portillo, first place in Persuasive; Jessica Portillo and Nicholas Thomas-Lewis, first place in Duet Acting; and Leisha Casimiro, first place in Informative (for the fifth meet in a row).

Other medalists include: Jodell Schulte, second place in Entertainment; Audrey McDowall, fourth place in Serious Prose; Kennedy Lewis, fourth place in Extemporaneous Speaking; Kallie Bush, Sanford Day, Taylor Muldoon, Audrey McDowall, and Leisha Casimiro, fifth place in oral interpretation of Drama; Nicholas Thomas-Lewis, Kaden Adrian, Paycen Harroun, Sebastian Portillo and Connor Moore, sixth place in oral interpretation of Drama; and Jessica Portillo, sixth place in serious prose.
