Preparations for all-class reunion underway

Preparations are underway for the Kimball High School All-Class Reunion.

The twice a decade event will be held July 3-5, and include a cruise night, individual class get togethers, fireworks and more.

Kim Baliman, head of the committee organizing the event, said tentative plans include a cruise night and individual class meetings on Friday, a luncheon, all-school band and choir concerts, fireworks, a dance and more on Saturday, and lunch in the park and additional concerts on Sunday.

“People need to start planning now,” she said. “If you’re coming to town, book your rooms early, book your campgrounds early. They will fill up.”

The committee sent out a mailing to all KHS graduates in its database, numbering approximately 3,500, in November. They are currently preparing for a second mailing to be sent out in April. The second mailing will include a concrete schedule and fees.

Baliman said the committee could use additional help. They currently meet for about an hour every other Monday at 5:30 p.m. at Baliman’s home. The next meeting is Feb. 23.

The committee is currently trying to find addresses for those whose cards were returned by the mail. Baliman said the committee could also use help with things like stuffing envelopes, putting together a database of younger graduates, planning and more.

“We can use help in a lot of areas,” she said.

She added that if anyone has addresses for KHS graduates, they should contact the committee.

In addition to those coming to town for the all-class reunion, Baliman hopes that businesses will join in by having specials or staying open later.

“It has a huge economic benefit in Kimball,” she said.

Baliman added that she hopes that everyone spruces up for the big event.

“I want people to say that they’re proud of this town,” she said. “Some people only come back for the all-class reunion and want to show it off to their families, some of whom have never been here.”

The group has a Facebook page for anyone who wants more constant updates. Also, anyone who wants to get involved should email [email protected].
