Grubbs takes fourth at Dogger Invite

Garrett Grubbs finished fourth to lead Banner County at the Dogger Invitational held last Friday and Saturday.

Grubbs topped Marshal Hill of Saratoga and Antonio Murillo of Gering to win his first two matches in the championship round. In the semifinals, he lost to Colt Lewis of Burns/Pine Bluffs. Grubbs moved on to the consolation round and won a semifinal match in that bracket, once again topping Hill. He lost in the third place match to Keenan Schmidt of Scottsbluff.

Brandon Blickensderfer dropped his opening championship round match to Connor Cathcart of East. In the consolation round, he won against Samuel Boyd of Southeast. In his next consolation match, Blickensderfer lost to Caleb Frank of Central.

Consolation Round 3 - Brandon Blickensderfer (Banner County) 3-20 won by fall over Samuel Boyd (Southeast) 4-12 (Fall 2:14).

Consolation Round 4 - Caleb Frank (Central) 4-14 won by major decision over Brandon Blickensderfer (Banner County) 3-20 (MD 12-1).

Quarterfinal - Garrett Grubbs (Banner County) 17-13 won by decision over Antonio Murillo (Gering) 2-2 (Dec 8-7).

Semifinal - Colt Lewis (Burns/Pine Bluffs) 22-13 won by fall over Garrett Grubbs (Banner County) 17-13 (Fall 3:23).

Consolation Semifinal - Garrett Grubbs (Banner County) 17-13 won by fall over Marshal Hill (Saratoga) 7-9 (Fall 2:22).
