Coyotes win at Garden County; Wildcats fall at Bayard

The Potter-Dix boys basketball team opened the Minuteman Activities Conference Tournament on Tuesday with a 53-39 win at Garden County, while the Banner County boys fell in their opening round game by a 56-39 score at Bayard.

Potter-Dix 53, Garden County 39

Potter-Dix expanded its lead in the second quarter and went on to top Garden County, 53-39, Tuesday night in the first round of the MAC Tournament.

The Coyotes move on to the semifinals of the tournament. The opponent, date and time of the game were not known at press time early Tuesday night.

Bayard 56, Banner 39

Homestanding Bayard took the lead in the first quarter and went on to defeat Banner County, 56-39, in the first round of the MAC Tournament on Tuesday night.

Bayard improved to 8-4 with the win and moves on to the second round of the tournament. Banner fell to 2-10 with the loss.

Bayard took an 18-13 first quarter lead, and Banner cut into its deficit to trail 29-26 at halftime. The Tigers took control in the third quarter, outscoring the Wildcats 16-7.
