The Banner County boys basketball team split a pair of games over the weekend at the Sioux County tournament. The Wildcats (1-6) opened the tournament with a win against Crawford, and fell narrowly in the finale to host Sioux County.
Banner County 48, Crawford 37
The Wildcats pulled ahead in the second quarter and went on to defeat Crawford, 48-37, on Friday to earn their first win of the season.
Crawford (3-7) led 8-6 after the first quarter when Banner came back for a 21-16 halftime lead. The Wildcats extended their lead in the third quarter, outscoring Crawford 18-8.
Michael McKown led the team offensively with 15 points. Tyson Dahlgrin had a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds.

Sioux County used a strong third quarter to edge Banner County, 50-47, on Saturday.
The Wildcats held a one-point advantage after the first quarter and led 23-21 at the break. Sioux went up 37-31 after three quarters and held off Banner in the fourth.
Dahlgrin once again had a double-double for the Wildcats, leading the way with 16 points and 12 rebounds. Kadan Huber also had a double-double for Banner, with 13 points and 11 rebounds.
Banner has a pair of games this weekend, hosting Hay Spring on Friday and traveling to Hemingford on Saturday.
