Potter-Dix throttles South Platte, 56-12

Potter-Dix rolled to a big 56-12 road win last Friday at South Platte. The Coyotes scored all of their 56 points in the first half to improved to 4-3 overall and 3-1 in district play.

“We played really well and got a lead early and then played the few younger players we have,” coach Dale Frerichs said. “We also tried some kids at different positions in the second half.”

The Coyotes put up 374 yards of offense - 214 on the ground and 160 through the air - in the big win. They limited South Platte to 155 yards offensively, with only 24 coming through the air. Both of South Platte’s touchdowns came in the second half.

“After playing so well against Garden County the week before and coming up short, you worry about a let down and our kids did not do that,” Frerichs said. “We came out ready to go and the first half performance showed that.”

Cameron Purcell led the Coyotes in both rushing and passing. He rushed for 58 yards and two touchdowns, and was also 7-of-13 for 154 yards and three touchdowns through the air. Kelsey Rozelle added 54 yards rushing and a score, while Zac Gotfrey rushed for 53 yards. Cooper Hicks caught two passes for 61 yards and a score, while Noah Nelson caught three passes for 49 yards and a touchdown.

Defensively, Cooper Hicks led Potter-Dix with 15 tackles (9 assisted and 6 solo), while Coby Hicks added 14 stops (12 assisted and 2 solo).
