Geraldine Brown

Geraldine Brown, 92, of Kimball, died at the Kimball County Manor on Friday, Oct. 17, 2014. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 21, at the Cantrell Funeral Home in Kimball with Pastor Alan Foutz officiating. Burial was held in the Kimball Cemetery. Memorials have been established to the Kimball County Manor, Kimball Presbyterian Church or Kimball Cemetery Improvement Fund. The services for Geraldine were entrusted to the Cantrell Funeral Home.

B. Geraldine Brown was born in Beaver City, Neb., on Jan. 7, 1922, the daughter of Edgar and Lucille (Loenning) Kentfield. She lived with her family and attended school in Beaver City until 1934. Her family lived in different parts of Nebraska and then in 1938 they moved to Cheyenne, Wyo. She married N.L. “Cub” Brown on June 18, 1942 in Sidney. They moved to Kimball in 1945. She worked for the Allen Funeral Home and the Cantrell Funeral Home for 30 years. Her husband preceded her in death in 1986.

She was married to Robert E. Brown on March 18, 1988 in Reno, Nevada. They lived in California and then returned to Kimball in 1991. Geraldine donated many hours at the VA Hospital in Cheyenne and received many awards for her time donated there. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Kimball, Royal Neighbors, Red Oak Camp #1804, the VFW Auxiliary Post # 2243 and the Eagles Club Aerie #3889.

Survivors include her son, Rodger (Etta) Brown of Thermopolis, Wyo .; brother, Edgar Kentfield of Hutchinson, Kan .; grandchildren, William Lee Brown, Timothy Dean Brown, Douglas Joe Brown and Jameson Kent Brown; two step grandchildren, one step great granddaughter and numerous great and great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; one son, Joe E. Brown; a daughter, Barbara Sinner; daughter-in-law, Linda L. Brown; step parents, Lillian Kentfield and Joe Moore; and sister-in-law, Elva Kentfield.
