Food drive success: Students collect over 1,000 pounds of food for pantry

On Oct. 11, 30 students and five adults from the Kimball community distributed 1,000 bags and flyers to houses and apartments in Kimball. A week later, on Oct. 18, another group of 30 students and seven adults picked the filled bags up and helped restock the local food pantry.

The residents of Kimball responded by donating over one ton of food and household items towards this event. A little over 2,200 pounds was donated to the effort.

The people that helped with the event represented the following organizations: Interact Club, STAND, Spanish Club, FFA, TeamMates, Civics Class, fireman's auxiliary and Stepping Stones.

Kimball High School Principal Eugena Hanks said the group would like to extend a big thank you to George Barp and Joel Linn for their help and expertise in organizing the event, to Jodi Keeler who manages the food pantry, and to MainStreet Market for donating the plastic bags.
