Robert "Wayne" Adamson


Robert "Wayne" Adamson, 93, 0f Kimball, died at the Kimball Health Services on Saturday, May 31, 2014. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 5, 2014 at Calvary Methodist Church in Bushnell with Pastor Carla Gunn officiating. Burial will be held in the Kimball Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 1:00 until 6:00 p.m. Visit to view Wayne's Tribute Wall and leave condolences for the family. Memorials have been established to the Wounded Warrior Project or the Donor's Choice. The services for Wayne have been entrusted to the Cantrell Funeral Home.

Robert Wayne Adamson was born in Bushnell, Nebraska on October 31, 1920, the son of Athey and Caroline (Norwood) Adamson. He attended country school where he was taught by his oldest sister. In 1930 he attended the Bushnell High School and graduated in 1938. Wayne attended Nebraska College of Commerce in Hastings for 2 years. In 1941 he enlisted in the US Navy. On a leave home, he was married to Marjorie Morris on October 16, 1943 in Bushnell. He was a decorated veteran for serving his country on many campaigns during WWII and was honorably discharged in 1945. He returned to farming and operated his own dairy farm and supplied milk to the residents of Bushnell and the surrounding area. In 1963 he moved to a farm south of Bushnell and began to farm dry land wheat along with his irrigated land. He continued this until his retirement in 1983, at which time his son Alan took over the operation. Marjorie preceded him in death in 1997. He was married to Margaret Ingrim in Council Bluffs, Iowa on February 14, 1998. She preceded him in death in 2007. Wayne was an excellent provider for his family; they never had extra things, but always had enough. He was a fan of sports, his favorite being baseball. Wayne would sit and listen to the radio and tune back and forth between three different games at a time. He was also an outdoorsman; he enjoyed spending time with his family hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Lions Club, served as President on the Bushnell School Board for many years, the Bushnell Fire Department and the Kimball Park and Recreation Board.

Survivors include his sons Larry (Andrea) Adamson of Northglenn, CO., and Alan (Debra) Adamson of Bushnell; daughter Janice (Ray) Miller of LaJunta, CO; grandchildren Kimberly (Gerald) Rehtus, Brad Randolph, Brian (Cathy) Randolph, Carrie (Austin) Hurt, Lori (David) Kramlich, Scott (Katie) Adamson, Jennifer (Robert) Hohlen, Kevin (Michelle) Adamson and Caroline (Andrew) Reiners; 13 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, both wives, one brother Loran and one sister Pauline Johnson.
