Hunsaker Best of the Best

Alisha (Ali) Hunsaker emerged as the Best in last week's Best in the West Track and Field Classic held at Scottbluff's Bearcat Stadium winning the 200 meter dash with a personal best time ever of 27.36. The Kimball High sophomore who excels in other events as well, ran with the pack until she hit the back stretch and then simply ran away from the elite field made up of the fastest 8 times turned in from Western Nebraska and Eastern Wyoming. She could stand tall and proud on the top platform of the medal stand to receive her gold medal proclaiming her the Best of the Best in the West!

It was a good night for the Kimball High track program as

they performed well in this elite meet that was postponed from its original scheduled date of April 29 to May 1 due to bad weather conditions. Madison Biesecker, another outstanding trackster from Kimball's sophomore class, ran 3rd in the 300 meter hurdles with her all time personal best time of 48.26 to establish a new school record in the event bettering the previous record time of 48.7 set by Becca O'Brien back in 1994! Biesecker's time is also up in the top listings in the State Class C marks. The speedy young lady brought home the bronze medal for her efforts. Shelby Vogel was yet another Lady Longhorn who saved her best for the Best in the West hop, skipping, and jumping her all time best in the triple jump to claim 3rd place with a best effort of 33'4 1/2", also a new school record bettering the old mark of 33'3 1/2" held by Robin Kramer and set back in 1997!

Freshman Jannell Fiehtner tied for 6th in the 400 meter run with her time of 64.98. Senior Laura Flores ran 6th in the 1600 meters in her all time best showing clocking a personal best of 5:49.29.
