Effie moved to Mitchell in 1988 where she cherished her children and grandchildren. She helped prepare meals at the Community Christian School for several years where her grandchildren attended.

Effie enjoyed reading a good book, knitting and dangling a worm whenever she could. She was privileged and honored to help Fred raise his daughter, Tiffani. She loved cooking lunch for a passle of boys while Jordan and Brandan were in high school in Mitchell.
