Doris R. Anderson

Doris R. Anderson, 90, died on March 30, 2014 at the Kimball County Manor, Kimball, Nebraska. Doris was born on March 9, 1924 to Carl and Gertrude Lindeburg, on her parents farm outside Galton, Colorado. Doris was one of four children. When Doris was 11 years old her mother passed away and her older sister, Elsie, who was 17 at the time, gave up college scholarships so she could stay home and raise her two little sisters. Doris graduated and went on to college where she received her bachelor’s and master’s degree in education. Doris also loved music and was an accomplished pianist and violinist. She moved to Greeley, Colorado where she taught third grade for over 22 years. She met her husband, Milfred Anderson, through her sister Elsie and they were married in June of 1944 in Greeley. Milfred was also a teacher and both of them taught in Greeley, Colorado, Mitchell, Nebraska and Gilcrest, Colorado. After Doris and Milfred retired, they moved to Portland, Oregon for a year and then moved to Pueblo, Colorado and then to Aurora, Colorado. After Milfred died, Doris suffered a severe stroke and in 1995 she moved to Kimball to be with family. She resided in Kimball until her death. Doris has been interred with her husband at the Mt. Lindo Cemetery in Morrison, Colorado. At Doris’ request there were no services.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Milfred, brother, Bernard Lindeburg and sisters, Elsie Flowers and Margie Wendell. She is survived by her nieces, Joyce Flowers and Irene Flowers of Minatare, Nebraska and Mary Ann Lange of Sierra Vista, Arizona and nephews, David Wendell and Steven Wendell of Sioux City, Iowa and Mark Wendell of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.
