Former Kimball Athlete now succesful coach

It was great to see that Jay Staehr, former outstanding Kimball High athlete, is still having success coaching as he directed his Overton boys into the championship game of the Nebraska state D-l division. I was already back home from Lincoln, but I watched it on the tube. Overton wound up 2nd, losing in the championship but what an outstanding year once again for coach Staehr and his boys.

Thanks to Lisa Buescher for sending this picture of her husband Darin, another outstanding former Kimball High athlete, along with one of Jay's young sons. Darin, who played his sports for Kimball High back in the late 1980s,now coaches two youth basketball teams in Lexington called the Hoopsters, one 3rd grade team and one 4th grade team. One of the standout players on the 3rd grade team is Carson Staehr, son of Jay Staehr, and already has a great 3 point shot as he follows in the footsteps of his father. They recently won the championship at the Kearney Snow Jam tourney. Darin's parents, Ray and Marcia Buescher still reside in Kimball as does Jay's parents, and Caron's grand parents, Keith and Cynthe Staehr.
